Exponents of two

Noah was playing math games with Karen. First he added one and one, and then he added the result, two, to itself. He then added two and two to get four, and so on. He got to 2,048 before he got bored with the game.

New game

Noah and I were playing war. Noah decided that the game wasn't that interesting. So he proposed a new game, in which  two cards are played at once,  the values are added up, and higher value wins. 

A much better game. The outcome is more interesting, Noah gets to practice addition, and he had a brief introduction to probabilistic thinking.

Fwd: Noah's homework

One of the math problems was this.

A male polar bear weighs 880 lbs. 

A female polar bear weighs 550 lbs.

How much more does the male weigh than the female?

Noah took a moment of deep thought, and then said to Karen, 330 lbs. 

Color me impressed :-).
