Karen reporting on Lila's day
Lila was doing my hair. I had to put my foot down when she scampered toward my head with scissors, saying 'I just cut a little bit'

She told me that my hair looks like an airport. I asked her why it looked like an airport. She said 'because I like airports!'

Immune response 101
Noah's staying home sick with a cold today, and he wanted to know how why he could resist some illnesses and not others.
I described how the white blood cells recognized the shape of different sicknesses, and we agreed that it was like the geometry of sickness.
Then I explained that his annual flu shot was a way of training his white blood cells to recognize new illnesses, so when the real flu came his body would know how to resist it.
He then pointed out that the doctors would have to know what kind of flu you'd get before you got it, and how could they possibly know? Great question, it really is a privilege to be his dad!
